Broken One.

IMG_9809

I stood at the sink, washing pinto beans and sorting out the bad ones, the broken ones, the unlovely, the discolored. These ones are not good enough. They must be thrown away.

I held them for a moment, a ragged little group of unworthy beans. And then it hit me.

I was once unworthy. I was one of the broken, the unlovely. But Jesus didn't throw me away. Instead, "He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young." Isa. 40:11. (This was Tuesday's Advent Scripture reading)

He took my brokenness and gently made me whole again.

He does it still. He gently leads me and my young ones every day.

And He gave me eyes to see it while washing pinto beans! Don't you love it when God breaks into our ordinary days with His extraordinary love?
