How the Real Housewives besmirch OC's hometown image

I'm an Orange County housewife but I'm nothing like the "Real Housewives of Orange County." In fact, I'm so mad about that show and what it's doing to Orange County's hometown image that I wrote an entire column about it:

I was born and raised in Orange County and have always loved this place. Maybe I’m being nostalgic, but I there was a time when Orange County was not defined by gated communities, plastic surgery and sky-high housing prices. Back then, we didn’t even call it “the OC”—that little moniker was bestowed upon us a few years ago by yet another cheesy TV show. In the last ten years, Orange County’s reputation as a family-friendly, education-centered community has been transformed into a supposedly more glamorous image: more plastic, more fake and more crowded with pimped-out, luxury SUVs.
