EE Sees OC! Fun things to do and see in Orange County, CA!

Every so often, I like to share with my readers some of the fun things I'm doing and seeing in Southern California! Orange County is a wonderful place to live and this is where I celebrate that!

1. Segerstrom Center For the Arts

One of my favorite places in Orange County, I took my aspiring ballerina to Segerstrom Center for the Arts in June to watch the National Ballet of Cuba. The ballet had received less than glowing reviews in the press: "agreeable if unimaginative" and complaints about "the simple, painted backdrops." But after listening to a ballet critic's pre-show lecture, we understood just how remarkable this ballet company is. These dancers practice in leaky, broken down studios in Cuba. The electricity sometimes goes off without warning. Some dancers are paid less than $30/month. And yet, these dancers were positively breathtaking. What they were able to accomplish despite the oppressive, Communistic conditions they live in was nothing short of amazing. We were so inspired and thankful that this company visited Orange County.

2. UltraLuxe Cinemas at GardenWalk in Anaheim!

Our family was invited to preview Cars 2 on opening weekend at UltraLuxe Cinemas. The movie was...meh...but the theatre was absolutely gorgeous! There was a lounge area complete with food service, full menu offerings and lovely views. Every Tuesday and Wednesday this summer they show a kid movie for $5. And every Wednesday, they offer a "Bring the Baby" movie morning where the lights are dim, volume is lower and there are changing stations right inside the theatre: children 4 and under are FREE, adults and children over 4, $6.

3. Irvine Regional Park

Irvine Regional Park is our family's all-time favorite park! On Father's Day, we took the whole family there for a nice, long walk and a couple of pony rides. There are multiple playgrounds, swing sets, a pond with paddle boats and even a little train that circles the park. We've spent so much time in this park as a family. It's really one of my favorite places in all of Orange County.
