Leavin' on a jet plane

The Illinois boy is returning to Illinois.

Timothy (my BIL) received his neurosurgery match this morning. He will be attending neurosurgery residency at Northwestern University!!

This is fantastic news for he & my sister, although a complete surprise. They had been expecting UCLA or Stanford. But such are the traumas and surprises of Match Day.

I'm so happy for them. And yet, so, so sad. My sister is my best friend. We've never lived further apart than an hour's travel-time.

It seems that all things change.

And for them, this is going to be an exciting, beautiful, wonderful step toward reaching their dreams.

I am so proud of the hard work, dedication and sacrifices they've made in order to attain their goals. I know it's the right and best decision for them.

I'm just going to miss them so very, very much.
